Product Overview
The Matrix Portal S3 is a plug-and-play controller designed for driving HUB75 RGB LED matrix panels with minimal wiring and no soldering. It connects directly to compatible RGB matrices and provides built-in WiFi connectivity, making it suitable for Internet-connected displays, dashboards, clocks, signage, and data visualization projects.

The board is powered by an ESP32-S3 microcontroller and supports both CircuitPython and Arduino development environments.

• Compatible sizes from 16x32 up to 64x64
• Supports front or rear IDC cable connections
• Address E jumper included for 64x64 matrices

• External 5 V power recommended for large or multiple matrix panels
• Power terminals for matrix power connection
• Supports chaining or panelizing multiple displays

• STEMMA QT I2C connector for sensors and accessories
• JST 3-pin connector with analog input support
• GPIO breakout with reset, boot, serial TX, and six GPIO pins
• Supports PWM, SPI, I2S, UART, and analog inputs

Onboard Components
• LIS3DH accelerometer for orientation and motion detection
• Two user buttons and one reset button
• Status NeoPixel and red indicator LED
• Green power indicator LEDs for 3.3 V and 5 V rails

Matrix Drive Features
• Parallel RGB matrix output using ESP32-S3 hardware peripheral
• Dedicated processing for display refresh without software bitbanging
• Dual-core operation allows networking and display tasks to run independently

• CircuitPython support with Protomatter matrix library

• Preloaded demo firmware for a 32x64 RGB matrix
