The HC-06 Bluetooth Module (Local CSR Chip) is a compact and cost-effective solution to add wireless serial communication to your Arduino or microcontroller projects. It operates strictly in Slave mode, making it ideal for receiving data from smartphones or other Bluetooth master devices.
Built with a local/clone CSR BC04 chip, it provides basic stability and compatibility at a lower price point—perfect for students, hobbyists, or budget-conscious makers. It comes with an onboard 2.4GHz PCB antenna, offers a communication range of up to 10 meters, and operates via a standard UART interface (TXD, RXD, VCC, GND).
Its wide voltage range (3.3V to 6V) and compact size make it easy to integrate into existing projects without the need for additional power regulation or antenna modules. Featured By RoboticsBD.

One of the easiest ways to spot the difference between an original HC-06 module and a clone lies in the Bluetooth chip size and quality.
The original HC-06 uses a genuine CSR chip, which is slightly larger and provides more reliable Bluetooth communication, better range, and full AT command support.
Clone versions often come with smaller, unbranded chips, even falsely labeled as "CSR". These clones may lack proper protocol support, have limited AT commands, and exhibit unstable or slow connections.
Backed by a reliable CSR chipset
Better signal stability and communication range
Compact and easy to integrate into projects
Ideal for Arduino and microcontroller applications
Full support for configuration and firmware upgrades
| Feature | CSR Chip (Genuine) | Clone CSR Chip (Chinese or non-genuine) |
| Chipset | Original CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) UK chip | Copy or alternative low-cost chipset |
| Stability | High – better signal strength, less dropout | Lower – occasional pairing issues or dropouts |
| AT Command Reliability | Fully supported and well-documented | Sometimes inconsistent AT command behavior |
| Firmware Upgradability | Often upgradeable | Often locked or unreliable firmware |
| Price | Slightly higher | Cheaper |
| Module Name | HC Type | Chip Quality | Key Notes |
| 1. HC-05 CSR Chip | HC-05 | Generic CSR | May be reliable if true CSR, but unverified origin |
| 2. HC-05 Genuine CSR Chip | HC-05 | Genuine | Best quality among HC-05, fully supports Master/Slave |
| 3. HC-05 Clone CSR Chip | HC-05 | Clone | Might face instability, but works for basic use |
| 4. HC-06 CSR Chip | HC-06 | Generic CSR | Slave only, check CSR chip authenticity |
| 5. HC-06 Genuine CSR Chip | HC-06 | Genuine | Best among HC-06, reliable slave communication |
| 6. HC-06 Clone CSR Chip | HC-06 | Clone | Basic functionality, lower reliability |
