    The MCP23008 I/O Expander is a versatile chip that adds eight general-purpose I/O pins to your microcontroller via an I²C interface. Each pin can be configured as an input, output, or input with pull-up, offering flexibility for a wide range of applications. It includes an interrupt output for event-driven designs, removing the need for constant polling. With support for up to eight MCP23008 devices on the same bus, you can expand your system to 64 additional GPIO pins using only two microcontroller pins.
