The MIC5891 High Voltage 8-Bit Shift Register Driver combines serial shift register logic with integrated high-side power drivers in a single compact IC. This design allows microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, and Raspberry Pi to control higher-voltage or moderate-current loads directly using only a few GPIO pins. Because it supports output voltages up to approximately 50V and peak currents up to around 500mA per channel (design dependent), it is suitable for driving relays, lamps, LEDs, and solenoids. Moreover, built-in clamp diodes protect against voltage spikes from inductive loads, improving system reliability.
